LAM Solo Exhibition “Senkyaku Banrai” held in Osaka

Talk

I went to LAM’s solo exhibition, which I had always been curious about.

Although I had purchased an advance copy at the beginning of the New Year and only had to adjust my schedule, I was disappointed that I could not apply for the autograph session or talk show.

Senkyaku Banrai

LAM SOLO EXIHIBITION SENKYAKU BANRAI
大人気イラストレーターLAMの大規模個展「千客万雷」が開催決定!東京:2024.11.1-12.2/大阪:2025.1.10-2.3

Details are official.

It runs from 2025.1.10-2025.2.3, so there will be about 1W left. If you are interested, please come early.

It has ended.

Although it is a fee-based exhibition, you can buy tickets on the day of the show, so it is nice to be able to drop by on your way home from work.

I am not sure how much to post here, so this will be text-based, but it will serve as a reminder of the event. Some spoilers are included.

Built-in exhibition space

From the entrance, it already looks too cool and the atmosphere is really nice.

I think this place is probably okay, so here’s a picture.

I was in a good mood when I saw this gate.

There were numerous exhibition spaces, and the sense that each space was individually created gave me a sense of immersion.

Inevitably, taking pictures in the distance shadows often included areas where photography was prohibited, so it was impossible to take pictures of the entire space.

The first space we entered from here was a VTuber space.

Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in all areas.

I think it is a copyright restriction.

I honestly wanted to take a panoramic shot of the large picture of all the characters created by LAM walking in a row, painted in a single sheet from the entrance.

I should have counted how many characters were drawn. They were drawn for this exhibition.

It was spectacular.

Looking back, this first area is perhaps the most impressive.

LAM’s paintings, large and small, are arranged in such a way that it may have been the first solo exhibition with so many paintings displayed on the walls.

I was already impressed by first impressions.

To be honest, I have loved LAM’s drawings since the days of the HAL commercials, but I myself am a casual fan who does not follow LAM deeply, so I was overwhelmed by the many unfamiliar drawings and characters I saw for the first time, but also enjoyed them in a fresh way.

If there was a solo exhibition within a train ride, even a casual visitor would go.

Life-size figures

Miku statue from Magical Mirai in 23 years.

I was able to fully enjoy the physical qualities not found in the illustration.

The detailed workmanship, combined with the amount of information on each surface, gives it a tremendous sense of presence.

I’m not really interested in figurines, but when I see something of such high quality at close range in person, I can’t help but be a little shaken.

Not related to LAM, but the demonized Rem figure from Rizero was also a bit of a bad idea.

??? Locations listed as area

It was a plain white space with no explanatory signs, but there were statues of the Wind God and Thunder God on both sides of the passageway.

As luck would have it, I was alone in this area from the time I entered to the time I left, and the silence and the imposing presence of the Wind and Thunder Gods created a unique atmosphere.

It was a Sunday afternoon, a time that could easily be crowded, but we were lucky.

New Areas.

This one caught my attention even more than the others.

I took a picture of her without thinking, and since she exists in the physical world, I decided to take a shot of her from the side as well, changing my standing position.

You are looking this way, aren’t you?

I see what you mean, so I moved to the opposite side and took another picture.

That’s great.

I took five or six close-ups of his face alone.

I wanted to capture it on video, but alas, video is not allowed. :’-(

The paintings displayed in the same area were priced, so check them carefully.

The prices were quite reasonable. However, I felt that they were not original paintings in terms of price.

I guess paintings are expensive, aren’t they?

I myself own several original works by professional illustrators, and although I often wish to have them, I cannot afford them, so I sometimes cheat my desire to own them with prints or other official reproductions.

Like buying postcards and putting them in frames.

It’s best to get your favorite illustrator before they become super famous. Keep supporting them.

souvenir

Here is a souvenir.

The miniature colorful paper presented as an admission bonus was cute, the limited-edition strap was cute as expected, and I even bought the special edition art book, which was more than four times the price, when I realized I was going to buy it.

By the way, the special edition was a special booklet with the Thunder God depicted around the upper right corner, a special binding (the outer box, right?), and two poskas.

To be honest, I thought it was expensive ……, but when I noticed it, the bill was over, so I had no choice. :D

The special booklet was huge and conveyed the power of the pictures better than the regular edition.

I have a strong feeling that if I were rich, I would buy two copies and take them apart to display them.

LAM was at the gallery today, but we were not able to meet him due to the event day. Too bad.

There is still a week to go, and now that I know where it is, I may buy a ticket on the day of the show and go see it again.

It has been a while since I have been to a private exhibition, but it is nice to go to a private exhibition of someone you like.
