Novel-related

Writing.

It was a long time ago that I wanted to write a novel.

It may have started with a crazy second novel (though I was not conscious of it as a second novel at the beginning) such as Daniel’s Diary (a police officer in the game Parasite Eve), which I wrote for my classmates to read as a story when I was a high school student far back in time.

In the days of my old homepage, I also wrote a mysterious comedy called B.A.S., a derivative work of Resident Evil, but I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago that I started to want to write stories in earnest.

Before that, going through a phase, dreaming up “the funniest story I could think of” in my brain.

I started posting my stories on Kakuyom, but since I really started posting them as writing exercises, my enthusiasm didn’t last long, and I’ve been stuck at around 25,000 words.

I’ll try to organize them in the following sections, including the ones I’m writing at the moment.

Random word everyday life with me and N

This is a work submitted (in progress) at Kakuyom.

俺とNとのランダムワードな日常(アサト夜) - カクヨム
本日のテーマは……コレだ!

I had been practicing my writing skills in a rather foolhardy attempt to write a 1,000-charactors story based on five key words from another website called Random Word Gacha.

For example, words are randomly arranged like this.

Based on this word, the story is told from “I”’s first-person point of view, focusing on the dialogue between “I”, the protagonist, and “N”, the heroine.

With this word, it seems relatively easy to write, doesn’t it?

The difficulty level would decrease if the amount of sentences were unlimited, but I remember that I was always worried about how to end each story if I had to summarize it in about 1,000 charactors.

When I was in elementary school, I can hardly remember, and all I have left are memories of how hard it was to write two pages of a book report, but when it came to actually writing a story, the 1,000-charactors limit went by too quickly, so I think it was good practice for me to summarize sentences within the prescribed word count.

However, as I continued, I remember that I shifted my mindset from “make an interesting story while struggling” in the beginning to “somehow fit it into the 1,000-charactors limit” early on, and I started to lose enjoyment in the process.

So, after writing 20 episodes, I relaxed the conditions, reduced the number of topics to only three, and decided to continue with a fresh start, digging into the words that came up a little more.

However, right after that, my project changed and I could no longer write stories during work, and I was also swept away by the waves of my particular busyness.

However, I have no intention of abandoning the project at this point, and if I can make time, I still have enough desire to continue writing, so I intend to update when the timing is right.

The story we are working on, part 1

I have a story that is being conceived as an otherworldly fantasy.

The main character is a man who can manage and build dungeons in a world of swords and magic. I am writing a story of about 2,000 charactors per episode, with a solid plot, and I am currently at about 20,000 charactors.

The plot itself is only about 30% complete, but the first part of the story is almost finished.

I’m having too much fun drawing right now.

I don’t have a so-called “adventurer’s rise to fame” story or an “outcast” story, but I think I’ve managed to write a pretty kick-ass protagonist, and that’s my self-assessment.

I have not been able to come up with a way to end the story because the story progresses mainly through daily life, which is also the reason why I have not been able to finish the story.

This is the first time I am writing a solid story, and I want to send it out into the world.

The work that began to be kneaded, Part 1

This is what is called a different world reincarnation story. The intended target age group is high, and it will be more of a dark fantasy story with some heavy topics.

I have no idea if I will be able to write it as a story, since it is just an idea I have, and I am just typing the settings on my phone while having a drink at a snack bar I often go to when I can’t get anyone to pay attention to me.

But I have a feeling that it could be interesting, so I hope to be able to put it together someday.

Various short stories that are being written without thinking

Here are about three.

I have them on my computer at work, so if I manage to bring them back, I think I can publish one of them with a little reworking.

The other two are still in limbo, and one of them I’m not too excited about, so I think I’ll just leave it in the dark.

I might be able to publish the messy short story on this blog instead of Kakuyom.

It’s not coherent, but it’s a summary.

I started writing without a plan, thinking that I would write some novel-type articles for now, but when I tried to organize the stories I was writing, both public and private articles, I found that I was quite too halfway through.

I am also a bit bored, so I think it was obvious that this would happen to some extent, but I don’t dislike it just because my main interest is different from others. So I think there is a good chance to resume the project. Personally.

However, for the time being, I will concentrate on illustration-related articles, but I will write about it in the hope that it will get a good groove.

I’m drawing the eye-catcher now and will replace it when it’s done!
